The US Play Coalition is now accepting proposals for Educational Sessions, Poster Presentations & the Play Research Symposium at the 2024 National Conference on the Value of Play: THE FUTURE OF PLAY. The conference will be held April 16-18, 2024, at Indiana University in Bloomington, IN.
“THE FUTURE OF PLAY” will explore play and technology, play across the lifespan, play in libraries, play in the workplace, play in the classroom, and play in relation to universal issues of access, equity, inclusion and more.
The latest research and practices in the field of play will be presented at the play conference, which brings together play researchers, park and recreation professionals, camp professionals, educators, health scientists, architects, landscape architects, business and community leaders, psychologists, physicians, museum professionals, students and parents from across the globe.
At the National Conference on the Value of Play, we have long relied on scholars, practitioners, advocates and industry leaders to share their expertise on various aspects of play.
Educational Sessions are opportunities to share and discover innovative play strategies and applications. These sessions are interactive and aimed at practitioners. Educational Sessions are 50 minutes long including Q&A.
The Play Research Symposium is aimed at researchers and academics. It provides opportunities for a scholarly exchange surrounding play. Presentations should be only 15 minutes long as they will be one of 2-4 presented in a block with a moderated Q&A to follow.
Poster Presentations will display during the conference to maximize visibility. The formal Poster Session will be part of a reception where presenters will have the opportunity to speak to conference attendees about their poster display.
See “Session Themes and Other Important Details” below.
A special note about registration fees for conference presenters:
Please understand that conference registration fees help to pay for the venue, catering, conference supplies, rentals and all related services as well as fund our operating expenses throughout the year. Unlike many other non-profit professional organizations, we do not have membership fees. We seek to keep costs to a minimum and affordable to as many people as possible. Although our conference costs are rising substantially, our registration fees have been raised only minimally. We appreciate everyone’s professional contributions, and our conferences are highly participatory – more than 60% of all attendees are also presenters or otherwise actively participating in the conference program. In order to keep the US Play Coalition operational, the dollars of each and every participant are needed, too.
Deadline for submissions is Wednesday, December 13 at 11:59pm Pacific Time.
Notification of acceptance/rejection: Before January 15, 2024.
